About the Firm

A two-partner Texas IP boutique that has practiced continuously since 1990.

Leavitt & Eldredge Law Firm was founded on a single proposition: that intellectual-property law is best served by senior attorneys who handle every matter from the first claim through the granted patent's defense in court. We have remained a two-partner firm by design. Each client gets a registered patent attorney, not a paralegal funnel.

A brief history

The firm opened its doors in Arlington in 1990. Richard G. Eldredge began the practice with a focus on complex utility patent prosecution for mechanical and electrical inventions; Brandon J. Leavitt joined as partner, expanding the practice into trademark, copyright, trade-secret, and IP litigation. Over three continuous decades, the firm has filed and prosecuted more than 3,700 matters before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Today the firm maintains a principal office in Arlington with six additional locations across the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex and the Houston-area Woodlands. The work itself is handled from Arlington; the local offices exist to make in-person meetings convenient for clients across most of Texas.

Both partners are USPTO-registered patent attorneys. Both have been recognized by Super Lawyers: Brandon every year from 2020 through 2024; Richard in 2017 and 2018. Combined, they bring three decades of issued patents, registered trademarks, and litigated matters to every client.

The Firm's Principles

How we practice.

01.

Partner-level work

The matter you call about is the matter the partner returns. The firm is two partners. Neither hides behind associates.

02.

Senior craft

Every patent claim is drafted by a USPTO-registered attorney who has prosecuted hundreds of issued patents in the relevant technical field.

03.

Specific scope

We do intellectual property. Not estate planning. Not personal injury. Not criminal defense. Depth in one practice over breadth in all.

04.

Honest evaluation

If the firm is not the right fit for a matter, we say so on the first call, and where possible refer to counsel who is. No engagement pressure.
